Middle School Writers' Workshop 2018
Students were asked to bring their own original writing. During the afternoon they separated into small groups to share their writing and gain feedback from peers and adults.
The picture to the right shows Melanie along with the Blue Horizons volunteers who organized the workshop.
Using her books as models, Melanie showed us what makes a story. She explained how ideas inspire themes. Then setting
and characters work into the plot. This picture shows her book, "Three Pennies", about a child in the foster care system
wanting very much to be reunited with her mother.
The teachers who brought the students enjoyed the day also.
